Abstract
Cut cloud spend ~90% — from ~$35K/mo to ~$3.5K/mo (~$380,000/yr) — migrating a regulated capital-markets platform off a sprawling public-cloud footprint (200+ microservices, 185 projects on GCP) onto a consolidated, self-hostable open-source stack on owned hardware. Decomposes where the savings come from (no metered model markup, no hyperscaler margin, efficient transport, consolidation) and shows the same mechanism applies to any organization carrying a metered-API plus hyperscaler-sprawl cost structure.
